TK-40 Extension

In June 2018, the Board of Directors of MEDGAZ approved the investment decision to expand capacity by 25%, from 8 to 10 bcm/year, by installing a fourth turbocompressor (TK-40) with characteristics similar to the three existing turbocompressors.

The new turbocompressor came into operation on July 1, 2022 after passing the relevant technical tests.

The turbine has been designed and manufactured by Siemens Energy and the compressor by Dresser Rand, a company also belonging to the Siemens Energy group, at a cost of around 80 million euros. This new turbocompressor has allowed the transport capacity to be increased to 10.16 bcm/year.

The expansion project was developed in parallel to the operation of the gas pipeline, without its construction and commissioning causing no stoppage of  transportation at any time.
